Unable to synchronize the Scanning Tool in Trend Micro Portable Security 2.0

Summary

When clicking Sync Components and Settings under Plugged-in Scanning Tools tab of the Management Program (MP), an error message appears:

Unable to synchronize updates with the Scanning Tool. Restart the computer and try again. If the issue persists, please contact your support provider. Scanning Tool: xxxxxx

From the TMPSCore.log file, the following error messages can be found:

2015/09/15 15:44:00.934 [11088:10364] E [UpdateModule::CheckEnoughSpaceDATA] No enough space in DATA partition (UpdateModule.cpp, 752)
2015/09/15 15:44:00.944 [11088:10364] D [UpdateModule::ClearSourceInfo] [Enter] UpdateModule::ClearSourceInfo()... (UpdateModule.cpp, 466)
2015/09/15 15:44:00.944 [11088:10364] D [UpdateModule::ClearSourceInfo] [Leave] UpdateModule::ClearSourceInfo()... (UpdateModule.cpp, 482)
2015/09/15 15:44:00.944 [11088:10364] D [UpdateModule::DoUpdate] Leave UpdateModule::DoUpdate [8] (UpdateModule.cpp, 1214)
2015/09/15 15:44:00.944 [11088:10364] E [TMPS::ModulePlatform::HandleRequest] Module 107 failed to handle request. (ModulePlatform.cpp, 201)

As seen above, there is no enough space in DATA partition. This issue may happen when Scanning Tool cannot clean up the update temp files.

To fix this issue, you need to reset the device by using the support tool. Click the Reset Device button under B More Tools tab of the support tool.
