When Meerkat detects a suspicious program from running, the following notification appears on the OfficeScan agent:

A program is attempting to change your system settings. Trend Micro recommends verifying the program before selecting an action. If this is unexpected, the program may be a virus and you should select "Block".
Note: If an action is no: selected within 45 seconds, Trend Micro automatically blocks the program to run.

Timeout value of Meerkat

Based on the message above, there is a 45-second timeout value before Trend Micro blocks the detected program. Learn how to adjust the said timeout value.

The default timeout value is 30 seconds. For OfficeScan 11.0 and XG, the maximum value is set to 25.

To set the timeout value, do the following:

  1. Open the OfficeScan web console.
  2. Go to Agents > Global Client Settings.
  3. Under Behavior Monitoring Settings, choose your preferred timeout value.
