Slow performance and error appears when accessing files on NetApp Filer in ServerProtect for Storage (SPS) 6.0

Summary

When SPS is involved in accessing the files on the NetApp Filer/ONTAP in Cluster mode, it takes a very long time and the following error shows up in the Windows Event Log:

A scan thread for a Cluster-Mode Device request stopped unexpectedly. Error code: 1385.

The error appears because ServerProtect is unable to trigger its scan thread due to a lack of permission. To resolve this, the account used to run the ServerProtect service must have the following permissions:

  • Privilege of interactive logon type
  • Domain user
  • Local Administrator
  • Local Administrator account with Allow Log on Locally in local group policy
