ScanMail for Microsoft Exchange 12.0 Patch 1 with build number 1350 is now released and posted on Trend Micro’s Download Center.
This patch includes the accumulative bug fixes since SMEX 12.0 GM build. It also includes some new features:
- Scan Mail Ransomware visibility change
Email is one of the major vectors for ransomware attacks. Even though SMEX already blocks most emails with ransomware links or attachments, there is no dedicated ransomware category in previous versions and customers may have no awareness how much work SMEX has done to block emails with ransomware. In this patch, SMEX has enhanced the ransomware visibility so that customers will know how many ransomware emails SMEX has blocked.
To view the result of the Ransomware Prevention, on the SMEX console go to Summary > Ransomware.
To generate the report for Ransomware Prevention, on the SMEX console go to Report > One-time reports/ Schedule reports > The Ransomware report >Generate. - Deep Discovery Analyzer (DDAN) improvement – Monitor Mode for POC
In this mode, email will not be temporarily intercepted and only suspicious email attachments will be submitted to DDAN for further analysis. Customers can run monitor mode for SMEX and DDAN integration POC without email flow interference.
- DDAN improvement – Message Sender Approved List
The message "Sender Approved List" option allows administrators to whitelist certain senders to bypass DDAN analysis therefore improving performance.
- Quarantine management improvement:
- Administrators can bypass virus scanning for the resend email.
Admin may need to resend email with the awareness that the email contains malicious content. In this release, the admin will be able to resend the quarantine items without being scanned again by virus scanning filter.
- Administrators can save resending message body and content as template.
For resend notification, customers can also save their customized message as template without having to type the content every time.
- Administrators can bypass virus scanning for the resend email.
- DDAN integration logic change/optimization to decrease false positive issue
This version of SMEX reduces the false positive when connection between SMEX and DDAN server is not reachable.
