Below are the important FAQs regarding the upcoming EOS of IDF 1.5.

What will happen after the EOS date?

After the EOS on September 30, 2016, standard support services for IDF 1.5 will no longer be available. This also means that Trend Micro will no longer develop hot fixes or patches for this version. Security updates may continue for a limited time after this date, but it is not guaranteed and may stop at any time after the EOS date.

What are the advantages of migrating to the standalone TMVP 2.0?

  1. IDF 1.5 will be officially considered EOS, which means that Trend Micro may not be able to assist you with any product support or security related issues you may encounter with this version.
  2. TMVP is a standalone enterprise product that is independent from OfficeScan’s Plug-In Manager. It gives you more control on its deployment including the database server. TMVP works in conjunction with other Trend Micro Complete User Protection solutions such as Control Manager for central management.
  3. The latest version of TMVP, which is 2.0 SP 2, includes several new features and enhancements such as improvement in Recommendation Scan performance, Windows 10 support, hierarchical policy support, AD account synchronization enhancement, TMCM integration and IPv6 support.

Where can I get the latest version of TMVP and how do I migrate my IDF 1.5?

The latest version of TMVP can be found in Trend Micro's Download Center. You can refer to Large size database migration from Intrusion Defense Firewall (IDF) to Vulnerability Protection KB article to migrate IDF 1.5 to TMVP 2.0 SP 2.

Where can I get the latest technical documentation  such as Readmes, Admin Guides, Online Help?

Trend Micro has a comprehensive online document library for TMVP available to our customers.

Where can I find Trend Micro's EOS dates?

Customers may find a list of all currently supported versions and their Stop Support (EOS) date (if announced) by refering to Supported Products - Trend Micro. This article is periodically updated as new versions are released and new EOS dates are added.
