Intrusion Defense Firewall (IDF) 1.5 will reach its official EOS on September 30, 2016. We encourage customers who have not yet migrated to the standalone Vulnerability Protection (TMVP) 2.0 to make the necessary arrangements to do so, as quickly as possible, in order to prevent any disruptions in their organization's endpoint security after this date.
Below are the important FAQs regarding the upcoming EOS of IDF 1.5.
What will happen after the EOS date?
After the EOS on September 30, 2016, standard support services for IDF 1.5 will no longer be available. This also means that Trend Micro will no longer develop hot fixes or patches for this version. Security updates may continue for a limited time after this date, but it is not guaranteed and may stop at any time after the EOS date.
What are the advantages of migrating to the standalone TMVP 2.0?
- IDF 1.5 will be officially considered EOS, which means that Trend Micro may not be able to assist you with any product support or security related issues you may encounter with this version.
- TMVP is a standalone enterprise product that is independent from OfficeScan’s Plug-In Manager. It gives you more control on its deployment including the database server. TMVP works in conjunction with other Trend Micro Complete User Protection solutions such as Control Manager for central management.
- The latest version of TMVP, which is 2.0 SP 2, includes several new features and enhancements such as improvement in Recommendation Scan performance, Windows 10 support, hierarchical policy support, AD account synchronization enhancement, TMCM integration and IPv6 support.
