Ping command results show an ANOMALY message on Windows 10 Anniversary Update with an OSCE 11.0 SP1 client installed

    • Updated:
    • 18 Oct 2016
    • Product/Version:
    • OfficeScan 11.0
    • Platform:
    • Windows 10 32-bit
    • Windows 10 64-bit
Summary

Several abnormal messages appear on the Windows 10 Anniversary Update Build 1607 Redstone 1 (RS1) platform even when ping results are successful.

Ping command results in the Command Prompt (CMD.exe) window are accompanied by the following message:

[0x7FFE573C70E3] ANOMALY: use of REX.w is meaningless (default operand size is 64)

This occurs even after applying OSCE 11.0 SP1 Critical Patch (CP) 6125 to support Windows 10 RS1.

If the OfficeScan agent/client is unloaded, the issue does not occur.

The error is caused by an issue with the User Mode Hooking (UMH) feature in OSCE 11.0. Download and apply OSCE 11.0 SP1 Hot Fix Build 6178 to prevent abnormal messages from appearing on computers running on the Microsoft Windows 10 platform.

Contact Technical Support to request for the hot fix.
