    • Windows 2003 Server R2
Summary

When you have another anti-virus software installed in a virtual machine under agentless solution (Deep Security Virtual Appliance) protection, the Recommendation Scan may timeout.

Details

Recommendation Scan on DSVA leverages the VMWare EPSEC driver to retrieve the guest virtual machine (VM) metadata back to the Deep Security Manager (DSM) for rule preparation. If the guest VM has a competitor anti-malware (file hooking module), it may affect the EPSEC data collection. As a result, the Recommendation Scan may timeout or may keep running.

To resolve the issue, it is recommended NOT to install other anti-virus software in a DSVA-protected virtual machine.
