This KB article discusses the steps when upgrading VSAPI engine to version 9.900 or executing a rollback to 9.850 without rebooting the OS in ServerProtect for Microsoft Windows/Novell Netware (SPNT) 5.8.

Do the following:

  1. Stop the Trend ServerProtect service.
  2. Open the command prompt as an administrator.
  3. In the command line, execute the following command:

    net stop vsapint

  4. Click Enter.

    CMD will display the following:

    The following services are dependent on the Trend ServerProtect Scan Engine service.

    Stopping the Trend ServerProtect Scan Engine service will also stop these services.

    Trend ServerProtect Filter

    Do you want to continue this operation? (Y/N) [N]:

  5. Select “Y”.

    Both the Trend ServerProtect Filter and VSAPINT will stop.

  6. Go to …\Trend\SProtect\x64 (VsapiNT.sys,tmxpflt.sys,tmpreflt.sys) to manually replace the engine file.
  7. Run the following command:

    net start vsapint

  8. Start the Trend ServerProtect service.
  9. Open the MC console.

The VSAPI scan engine version should be updated now.
