"Error creating index file for x64" appears when performing Anti-Malware Component Update in Deep Security

Summary

You may encounter an issue in performing an Anti-Malware Component Update. Upon checking the Agent/Appliance Events, the following shows:

Time: July 12, 2016 08:55:12   Level: Error   Event ID: 9017   Event: Anti-Malware Component Update Failed   Description: A failure occurred during an Anti-Malware Component Update.   Error Code: 0   Error Message: Error creating index file for x64

The error appears even when the pattern files are up to date.

The issue happens because the Deep Security Relay cannot connect to the Deep Security Virtual Appliance.

To resolve the issue:

  1. Test the network connection on the Deep Security Virtual Appliance machine.
  2. Set the Deep Security Relay to use its FQDN in Deep Security Manager console.
  3. Perform a pattern update.
