When installing Trend Micro Security (for Mac) OfficeScan Plug-in, an error appears with the following message:
An error in the Plug-in Service program occurred. Unable to install the Trend Micro Security (for Mac) server. Install the 64-bit version of Java Runtime Environment (JRE) 1.9 or later.
Looking at the OfficeScan server's Programs and Features, Java is already installed.
This issue happens when the installed Java Runtime Environment (JRE) on the server is running on an x86 version.
To resolve this issue, make sure that the OfficeScan server is installed with the 64-bit version of Java Runtime Environment (JRE). To do this:
- Go to Java Downloads for All Operating Systems and download the Windows Offiline (64-bit) installer.
- Run the installer to install the Java Runtime Environment (JRE) x64-bit version.
- After installation, go to Control Panel > Programs and Features and verify if the installed Java is the 64-bit version.
- Once the JRE x64-bit version is successfully installed, log into the OfficeScan Web Management Console and install the Trend Micro Security (for Mac) Plug-in again.
