To generate Certificate Signing Request (CSR) via a command line:

  1. Generate the RSA Key:
    1. Create a folder for the RSA key:

      mkdir ~/.ssl/
      cd ~/.ssl/

    2. Run the following command to generate the Private Key:

      openssl genrsa -out ~/.ssl/.key 2048

  2. Create a CSR with the RSA private key:

openssl req -new -sha256 -key ~/.ssl/.key -out ~/.ssl/.csr

The output is in PEM format. When prompted, enter the necessary info for creating a CSR.

  3. Verify your CSR by running the following command:

openssl req -noout -text -in ~/.ssl/.csr

  4. Submit the CSR that you created to a certificate authority.

They will provide a valid certificate and you will be able to access the web console.
