System reboot fails by reboot command using clish in InterScan Messaging Security Virtual Appliance (IMSVA) 9.1

Summary

You are unable to successfully perform a system reboot by reboot command via clish.

When the issue was reproduced, the message log shows the following error:

unable to open console: Input/output error

Oct 25 18:24:45 ems02 init: Failed to spawn splash-manager main process: unable to open console: Input/output error  Oct 25 18:24:45 ems02 init: Failed to spawn rc main process: unable to open console: Input/output error  Oct 25 18:24:45 ems02 init: tty (/dev/tty3) main process (20846) killed by TERM signal  Oct 25 18:24:45 ems02 init: tty (/dev/tty1) main process (20842) killed by TERM signal  Oct 25 18:24:45 ems02 init: tty (/dev/tty2) main process (20844) killed by TERM signal  Oct 25 18:24:45 ems02 init: tty (/dev/tty4) main process (20848) killed by TERM signal  Oct 25 18:24:45 ems02 init: tty (/dev/tty5) main process (20850) killed by TERM signal  Oct 25 18:24:45 ems02 init: tty (/dev/tty6) main process (20852) killed by TERM signal  

The system will not reboot but if you retry rebooting several times, it can successfully start.

IMSVA 9.1 Patch 3 has upgraded the upstart module to 0.6.5-17, which will resolve this issue when applied.
