Prevent Apex One from uninstalling 3rd party security products during agent installation

Summary

By design, Apex One will automatically uninstall 3rd party security products during agent installation to prevent conflict. However, in certain environment, you may want to keep 3rd party security products. This article will provided a solution for this use case.

This feature can only be enabled via installing a special hot fix, please contact Trend Micro Technical Support to obtain Apex One Hot Fix Build 2026 and follow steps below.

  1. Install Hot Fix Build 2026 on Apex One server (on premise). Please make sure your Apex One server build is between 1066 to 2999.
     
    • If the build of Apex One server (on premise) is greater than 2999, Hot Fix Build 2026 is not applicable and you will have to use another hot fix. Do provide Apex One server build information when contacting Trend Micro Technical Support.
    • If you're using Apex One as a Service (i.e. SaaS version), the requested hot fix build is 4038.
  2. Generate a new MSI package with ClientPackager ({Apex One Server installation folder}PCCSRV\Admin\Utility\ClientPackager\Clnpack.exe) after Hot Fix Build 2026 is applied and use it to install Apex One agent.
 
This package will not uninstall 3rd party security products.

To revert this feature:

  1. Installing any hot fix or patch with build number higher than 2026 can revert this feature (i.e. remove 3rd party security products).
  2. As an alternative, go to ({Apex One Server installation folder}PCCSRV\Backup\HotFix_B2026\) to restore those backup files, and execute RegBak_HotFix_2026.reg to restore registry hives.
