The external flash drive, located on the front panel of an N-Platform IPS (660N, 1400N, 2500N, 5100N, 6100N) , NX-Platform (2600NX, 5200NX, 6200NX, 7100NX, 7500NX) and TPS system (440T, 2200T) contains the logs and snapshot files of the device. The snapshot will only exist if a snapshot has been completed. This card can be removed from one IPS and installed in a like model IPS (e.g. 1400N > 1400N). Once the flash drive is installed, the snapshot from the flash card can be restored to the new IPS.
In order for the new IPS device to accept the system snapshot from the flash drive of the existing device, the IPS must first have the OBE configuration completed. All of the configuration data that is completed during the OBE process will be retained, even after the new flash card is installed.
Now that the OBE is completed on the new IPS device, log into the LSM of the new device and navigate to System>Update>System Snapshot. Then navigate to the correct snapshot and click on the circular icon to restore the system snapshot.
Note: A system snapshot restore will cause your system to reboot.
