    • Updated:
    • 1 Sep 2017
    • Product/Version:
    • TippingPoint SMS All
    • TippingPoint Virtual SMS
    • Platform:
Summary
If the /var partition is full, the SMS will not be able to create logs and will therefore not allow you to log in. A reboot will temporally resolve the issue and allow you to log in. Once you are able to log in, enter the command  get health.disk-util
Details
Public

Sample

SMS=> get health.disk-util
Disk utilization (health.disk-util) =
  /                      16G  2.6G   13G  18%
  /var                  992M   67M  875M   8%
  /var/lib/mysql        123G  1.6G  115G   2%
  /opt/vertica/data     108G  1.5G  101G   2%
  /opt/sms               28G  751M   26G   3%
  /mgmt/client/tmp       15G  166M   14G   2%
  /boot                  92M   17M   71M  19%

The output should be similar to the above.

If the /var is at or near 100% perform an SMS backup and contact support and they will assist you with cleaning up the /var disk partition. This clean up action requires Service Mode Access which should only be used under the direct supervision of TippingPoint support.

To perform the SMS backup, go to Admin--> Database-->Backup and Restore --> Backup Now...and follow the instructions in the Backup Wizard. When the backup is complete, navigate to the link provided in the Backup Status section of the SMS Client Database maintenance page to download the backup.
