This error happens because the system is unable to create a directory in the Compact Flash (CF) (CFast) card to hold the dump files. The CF card is used to store system logs, snapshots, dump files and other system data.
This can happen under the following conditions:
- CF/CFast card not present
- CF/CFast card present but not mounted
To verify the status of the CF card run the following command from the CLI:
IPS: show compact-flash
TPS: show user-disk
If the CF card is present the output command will look like;
IPS# show compact-flash Compact flash is present Model number: 32GB SATA Flash Drive Serial number: 0000000000000000000 Revision number: SFI2101 Capacity: 30208MB Operation mode: auto-mount Mount status: mounted | tps{}show user-disk External User Disk Status: Mounted Encryption: None Capacity: 8012390400 bytes Used: 268394496 bytes Free: 7216459776 bytes |
If the command shows that the CF card is not present or unmounted, then the CF card will have to be installed and/or mounted.
