Routing options enable communication with network subnets other than the subnet on which the Management Port is located. If your device will only communicate with devices on the local network subnet, you do not need to configure a management port route, regardless of whether you are using IPv4 or IPv6. However, if you are using IPv4 and the device will communicate with devices that are not on the local IPv4 subnet or accessible through the default gateway, you must define the routes to these devices.
The automatic configuration option is only available for IPv6. If IPv6 automatic configuration is enabled on the Management Port page and an IPv6 auto-config router is present, IPv6 routing will be handled automatically, and you do not need to define additional IPv6 routes. If automatic configuration is disabled, you must add an IPv6 route to communicate with a device that is not on the local subnet and is not accessible through the default gateway.
