Configuring additional services and ports on the SMS!

Summary
To enhance scanning and detection of malicious traffic, the SMS provides management of services. This feature enables you to configure additional ports associated with specific applications, services, and protocols to expand scanning of traffic. When filters scan traffic against the standard ports for listed services, the engine then accesses and scans traffic against the list of additional ports. 

Note: With the exception of HTTP (8 ports), each service supports up to 16 additional ports.

How To: Common Task

  1. Log in to the SMS from a client.
  2. From the top navigation pane, click Profiles. The Profiles screen displays.
  3. From the navigation pane on the left, click the + sign next to the Shared Settings to expand the category and select Services.
  4. Select a service name and click Edit. The Filters - Service - Edit dialog box displays.


How To: Add a Non-Standard Port

  1. Click on TCP/UDP Ports
  2. Click Add.
  3. Select the Protocol
  4. Enter a Port number.
  5. Enter a Range number.
  6. Click OK.
  7. Click OK.


How To: Delete a Non-Standard Port

  1. Click on TCP/UDP Ports
  2. Select a port to delete.
  3. Click Delete.
  4. Click OK.
