In the past, VSAPI and ATSE have been using version numbers based on major releases, including feature additions and bug fixes.
To prepare for increased release frequency to address latest threats, Trend Micro will change the version format to include the year and month for creation time.
Scan engines released after 2021 will be given a version format according to the following numbering method.
| Year of Creation | First number group will show the creation year. Example: Scan engine release on year 2021, will show “21”. |
| Month of Creation | Second number group will contain information regarding creation month. Example: Scan engine release on January: 510, February: 520, May: 550, October: 600, November: 610, December: 620 |
| Build Number | Values starts at 1001. If more than one scan engine is created in the same month, the value is incremented. |
If the scan engine version number is 21.550.1001, this indicates that it was created in May 2021.
This format change only affects the version number given to scan engines. It does not impact scan engine behavior or functionality other than the search engine version number displayed.
