Policy

To apply best practices for the Spam or Phish policy, perform the following steps:

  1. Log on to the TMEMS Console.
  2. Navigate to Inbound Protection > Spam Filtering > Spam Policy > Spam or Phish rule.
  3. On the Scanning Criteria Tab, you may opt to increase the Spam Level settings to the highest or to at least increase it by one level, as recommended.

  4. Check all boxes, except Graymail, then set Spam check to a higher level. Graymails are covered by a different policy which is “Newsletter or spam-like”.
     
    Setting the spam check higher may lead to more false positives, but it can also reduce false negative messages and avoid malicious messages in. If Virtual Analyzer is enabled, TMEMS performs observation and analysis on samples in a closed environment. Advanced analysis can delay the delivery of messages by 5 to 30 minutes.
     
  5. On the Recipients and Senders, make sure the mail sender address is not in the Exceptions of the Spam or Phish policy.
  6. Click Submit to save the changes.


IP Reputation Setting

Apply the settings below to apply best practice on IP Reputation filtering:

  1. Navigate to Inbound Protection > Connection Filtering > IP Reputation > Settings.
  2. Set the aggressiveness level based on the need of your organization. If you are constantly under attack, increasing the aggressiveness level is highly recommended.
  3. Enable all 3 IP Reputation checking (KSSL, DUL, and ETL).
