Updating an OSCE client or WFBS Security Agent may fail when there is a third-party web monitoring tool such as GFI Web Monitor in the network. OSCE or WFBS clients use HTTP to download updates from their respective servers. The HTTP traffic generated during the update process can be blocked by the third-party web monitoring tool.

To allow an OfficeScan client or WFBS Security Agent to update via a third-party web monitor such as GFI Web Monitor, add the IP address or server name of the OSCE/WFBS server in the whitelist settings of the web monitoring tool.

To configure the whitelist settings of GFI Web Monitor:

  1. Open the GFI application.
  2. On the left hand side on the categories, select Whitelist.
  3. On the right column, select Site from the drop-down menu to choose the type of whitelist that will be added.
  4. Enter the OSCE/WFBS server IP address or the OSCE/WFBS server name in the text field beside the drop-down menu. Follow this format:

    <IP Address>/* or <Servername>/*

    Example: 192.168.1.1/* or myserver.local/*

  5. Click Add to add the entry to the whilelist.
  6. On the top right corner, click Save to save and apply the settings.

To configure whitelisting or exceptions on other versions of GFI Web Monitor or other third-party web monitoring tools, refer to the tool's documentation.
