To manually update the scan engine:

  1. On the ScanMail or Messaging Security Agent server, download the latest copy of the scan engine from Trend Micro.
     
    To perform a manual rollback, download the previous version of scan engine or use an existing backup.
  2. Stop the following ScanMail services:
    • Trend Micro Messaging Security Agent System Watcher Service
    • Trend Micro Messaging Security Agent Remote Configuration Server
    • Trend Micro Messaging Security Agent Master Service
  3. Back up the copy of vsapi32.dll and BPMNT.dll files in the following directories:

    ..\engine\vsapi\latest ..\engine\vsapi\primary
    ..\engine\vsapi\secondary

  4. Extract the contents of the zip files from Step 1 to the following directories:

    ..\engine\vsapi\latest ..\engine\vsapi\primary
    ..\engine\vsapi\secondary

  5. Restart the following services:
    • Trend Micro Messaging Security Agent System Watcher Service
    • Trend Micro Messaging Security Agent Remote Configuration Server
    • Trend Micro Messaging Security Agent Master Service

To see the updated Scan Engine version, log on to the WFBS console, go to Security Settings and select the Exchange server.
