Before performing the steps below, you need to open a Terminal window with permissions to access the pattern/scan engine folder. It can be done using any of these methods:
- Provide the login user with access permission to the following folder: \Library\Application Support\TrendMicro\common\lib\vsapi\*.*
- Open a Terminal window and run the "sudo -i" command to run the command as root.
- Download the Official Pattern Release (OPR) or Controlled Pattern Release (CPR).
- In the Termina windowl, create a back up of the following old pattern files:
- \Library\Application Support\TrendMicro\common\lib\vsapi\lpt$vpn.xxx
- \Library\Application Support\TrendMicro\common\lib\vsapi\ssaptn.xxx
- \Library\Application Support\TrendMicro\common\lib\vsapi\Ptn_Normal\lpt$vpn.xxx
- \Library\Application Support\TrendMicro\common\lib\vsapi\Ptn_Normal\ssaptn.xxx
- Copy the new lpt$vpn.xxx and ssaptn.xxx to:
- \Library\Application Support\TrendMicro\common\lib\vsapi\
- \Library\Application Support\TrendMicro\common\lib\vsapi\Ptn_Normal\
- Reboot the machine.
- Download the Scan Engine or use the scan engine provided by Trend Micro Technical Support.
- In the Terminal, create a back up of the old scan engine: \Library\Application Support\TrendMicro\common\lib\vsapi\libvsapi.dylib
- Copy the new libvsapi.dylib file to: \Library\Application Support\TrendMicro\common\lib\vsapi\
- Reboot the machine.
