Troubleshooting failed installation of ScanMail for Exchange (SMEX) patches or hot fixes

When installing patches or hot fixes, some systems run third-party processes that prevent the files from being copied during installation.

This article helps you identify the processes causing the problem to be able to finish the installation properly.

Open the file, %drive root%\TMPatch.log.
Go to the end of the file and then search from below backwards for "fail".
Identify within the copy section which file will be prevented from being deployed.
Here is a log same from the utilSystem.dll file:

Failed.
Rename the file (in this example, to utilSystem.dll.old) and retry the installation.
