This error occurs due to insufficient permissions or because the EXE file is blocked for added security.

To resolve the issue:

  1. Check your account permissions. You should have administrator privilege to install the OfficeScan server.
  2. If the OfficeScan installer was copied from a different machine such as Windows 7 or Windows Vista, right-click the installer file and choose Properties to open the Properties window.
  3. Go to the General tab and look for the Security section where you can see the following message:

    This file came from another computer and might be blocked to help protect this computer.

  4. Click the Unblock button, and then click OK.
  5. Execute the file again.
