The Control Manager / Trend Micro Apex Central server has two primary tools, the CMMaintainingTool and the DBCleanupTool. These tools resolve the issues by reducing the size of db_ControlManager database and removing stale database records. Run these tools once a month to keep the database healthy and to gather correct information in widgets and reports.

Using the CMMaintainingTool

  1. Stop the following Control Manager services:
    • Trend Micro Common CGI
       
      Trend Micro Common CGI is not available in Control Manager 7.0 and Trend Micro Apex Central.
       
    • Trend Micro Control Manager
    • Trend Micro Management Infrastructure
  2. Run ..\Control Manager\CMMaintainingTool.exe.
  3. Purge abnormal communicators by selecting each of the following and clicking Purge Now:
    1. Purge abnormal communicators
    2. Purge duplicate communicators with abnormal status
    3. Purge duplicate tables in SQL database
  4. On the Recount the Control Manager server logs section, select the following:
    • Virus logs
    • Security logs
    • Web Security logs
    • Packets Virus logs
  5. Click Recount Now.
  6. Under the Remove duplicate Apex One clients and SPNT NS information section, select the following:
    • Trend Micro Apex One client
    • SPNT NS
  7. Click Remove Now.

Using the DBCleanupTool

  1. Stop the following TMCM services:
    • Trend Micro Common CGI
       
      Trend Micro Common CGI is not available in Control Manager 7.0. and Trend Micro Apex Central.
       
    • Trend Micro Control Manager
    • Trend Micro Management Infrastructure
  2. Right-click ..\Control Manager\DBCleanupTool.exe and select Run as Administrator.
  3. Select the following:
    • Invalid Log
    • Temp Log
    • Command Tracking Log (All)
    • Unregistered Product List
    • Invalid Engine/Pattern Version
  4. Click Start.
