- From the menu bar, select File > New > Virtual Machine. The New Virtual Machine Wizard appears.
- Under Virtual Machine Configuration, select Typical.
- Click Next. The Name and Location screen appears.
- In the Name field, type an appropriate machine name and then click Next. The Datastore screen appears.
- Select the datastore where the virtual machine will reside.
- Click Next. The Virtual Machine Version screen appears.
- Specify the virtual machine version to use.
- Click Next. The Guest Operating System screen appears.
- Select Linux > Other Linux (64-bit).
- Click Next. The CPUs screen appears.
- Select the number of processors for the virtual machine. IMSVA takes advantage of the Virtual SMP, so select the maximum number of virtual processors available .
- Click Next. The Memory screen appears.
- Allocate 4096 MB of memory as a minimum for IMSVA.
For improved performance, we recommend at least 8192 MB of RAM.
- Click Next. The Network screen appears.
- Accept the default network settings.
- Click Next. The SCSI Controller screen appears.
- Select LSI Logic Parallel.
- Click Next. The Select a Disk screen appears.
- Select Create a new virtual disk.
- Click Next. The Create a Disk screen appears.
- Specify at least 120 GB of disk space. IMSVA requires at least 120 GB disk space.
We recommend 250 GB or more of disk space for message quarantine and logging purposes.
- Click Next. The Advanced Options screen appears.
- Specify the advanced options if required. Usually these options do not need to be changed.
- Click Next. The Ready to Complete screen appears.
- Click Continue. If you want to modify the system component settings, check the Edit the virtual machine settings before completion check box and then click Continue.
- Verify your settings and then click Finish. The new Virtual Machine is now ready and configured to be powered on and begin the installation process.
