To activate Meerkat, check the following information:

Before enabling Meerkat:

  1. Enable AEGIS (TMBMSRV.exe) to monitor the process launch.

    Go to the client tree > Settings > Additional service settings and enable Unauthorized Change Prevention Service.

  2. Enable Web Reputation (tmproxy.exe) to monitor the file download and the client will save the records in C:\Program Files\Trend Micro\OfficeScan client\EventsDB.

    Go to the client tree > Settings > Web Reputation Settings and select Enable Web reputation policy.

  1. Go to Client Management > Global Client Setting.
  2. Click Behavior Monitoring Settings.
  3. Select Prompt users before executing newly encountered programs downloaded through HTTP or email applicationand save.

    Meerkat is now enabled successfully.

By default, the Meerkat feature cannot be activated on the server platform via the console.
The following additional steps should be done:

  1. In the OfficeScan installation directory, go to the \PCCSRV folder and open the ofcscan.ini file.
  2. Manually add the following registry key under [Global Setting]:

    EnableMeerkatServerDetection=1

  3. Save changes and close the file.
  4. Open the OfficeScan server console and go to the Networked Computers > Global Client Settings.
  5. Click Save to deploy the setting to all clients.
  6. Open the OfficeScan client registry which is the Windows server platform. Windows server platform will create the key “EnableMeerkatServerDetection=1” under:

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\{Wow6432Node}\TrendMicro\PC-
    cillinNTCorp\CurrentVersion\Misc

    Meerkat is now enabled successfully.
