Administrators may install both OfficeScan and Control Manager software applications in a single machine of an enterprise network that manages 1000, 3000, or more clients.

The following sections show the required system and setup for the server, installation process, and post-installation configurations.

Here is the recommended setup for the single server.

Agent Number10001000 above (up to 3000)
CPU TypeIntel Core i5 4 Core CPU
RAM8 GB16 GB
DiskSATA 2 7200RPM or above, SAS/SSD is better
NIC1 GBPS
SoftwareTMCM 6.0 SP3 Patch 2
OSCE XG
OSCE Plug-ins: Data Protection, VDI Support, Microsoft IIS Server
DatabaseSQL express (TMCM self-installed)External SQL server (MS SQL 2008 or above)
ConfigurationAdd SQL server process to exclusion list of Real-Time Scan and Behavior Monitoring of OSCE

As the same machine has limited resource, the major performance constraint will be the disk I/O once all the services of the machine is running. To maintain the service quality of the machine, it is also recommended to install disk storages with higher IOPS like SAS, HDD in RAID, or even SSD.

Below is a glance on the performance of the machine regarding the agent capacity.

Server TypeSingle Server (TMCM + OSCE)
ConfigurationExclusion*Exclusion* + SQL server
No. of managed agents10003000

With exclusion configuration applied, the machine is estimated to support up to 1000 agents. With exclusion configuration and standalone SQL server configured, the machine is estimated to support up to 3000 agents.

*Exclusion configuration means adding the SQL server process into the exclusion list of Real-time Scan and Behavior Monitoring features on the OfficeScan server.

The administrator is encouraged to do the following installation process:

Migration of the OSCE traditional database to SQL database

Once OSCE server installed, it uses the traditional database by default. It is suggested to migrate the traditional database to the SQL database service (SQLExpress) which is installed by TMCM.

The SQL Migration Tool provided by OSCE can do the migration task. Download this document for more information.

  1. Select the "Migrate the OfficeScan database to an existing SQL Server" option.
  2. Enter the SQL server name and instance information.
  3. Enter the SQL server account and credential.
  4. Click Test Connection.
  5. Start the migration task.

Migration to SQL database

Download and deploy the OSCE Plug-in services

OSCE server provides different plug-in services to enrich the various features that OSCE does not originally cover. To use the Plug-in Manager, follow the procedure in OfficeScan XG Admin Guide (Chapter 15).

The recommended setup of single server is based on a test result where OSCE server is incorporated with Data Protection and VDI support plug-ins only.
