To resolve this issue, change the SMEX installation folder property (e.g. C:\Program Files\Trend Micro).

  1. Select the Allow files in this folder to have contents indexed in addition to file properties option and leave the other properties unselected.
  2. Go to C:\Program Files\Trend Micro\Smex\engine\Emanager and delete Vsapi*.dll file.
  3. Start the SMEX Master Service.
