To control agent upgrade, do the following:

  1. Log in to the Apex One management console.
  2. Go to Agents > Agent Management.
  3. Select the endpoint or domain group of the clients to configure.
     
    Trend Micro recommends performing the client upgrade in batches or by groups to avoid network congestion.
     
  4. Click Settings > Privileges and Other settings.
  5. Go to the Other Settings tab.
  6. On the drop-down list below Security agents only update the following, select Pattern files, engines, drivers.

    The following registry keys will be added to the client machine:

    • Pattern files
      • Agent will only update the patterns
      • Registry Path: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\TrendMicro\PC-cillinNTCorp\CurrentVersion\Misc.
      • Key: NoProgramUpgrade Value: 1
      • Key: NoEngineUpgrade Value: 1
    • Pattern files, engines, drivers
      • Patterns, engines, and drivers will be updated. Agent program updates and Hotfixes will not be applied.
      • Registry Path: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\TrendMicro\PC-cillinNTCorp\CurrentVersion\Misc.
      • Key: NoProgramUpgrade Value: 1
      • Key: NoEngineUpgrade Value: 0
    • All components (including hotfixes and the agent program)
      • All updates/upgrades will be applied to the agent.
      • This is the default setting.
      • Registry Path: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\TrendMicro\PC-cillinNTCorp\CurrentVersion\Misc.
      • Key: NoProgramUpgrade Value: 0
      • Key: NoEngineUpgrade Value: 0
  7. Click Save.
  8. Confirm agents received the setting update prior to applying the patch/hotfix/upgrade.
  9. Change the setting back to All components (including hotfixes and the agent program) to endpoints or domain groups as desired to allow them to upgrade.
