A policy communication error occurs when Apex One and Apex Central are installed on the same server in the following order:

  • Apex One
  • Apex Central

Communication Error

The root case is that the installation of Apex Central will stop the IIS Application Pool for Application Control and Vulnerability Protection. In order to prevent this error, here are the manual steps you need to follow:

  1. Run IIS (Internet Information Services) Manager and go to Application Pools.
  2. Start OfficeScan_iAC_AppPool and OfficeScan_iVP_AppPool.
  3. Select the IIS site and click Restart.

    Restart Service

  4. Re-deploy the policy on Apex Central

The solution for this issue was enhanced in Apex One's later builds but the issue still exists in the GM version.

Policy deploy status is “Pending” for all agents and the following error code shows in the Apex One server ofcdebug.log:

[ofcservice.exe]BoostHTTPClient::receive - http response code=500

One of the root causes is that the Apex One and Apex Central websites were both installed as the default web sites, causing a conflict.

To resolve the issue, install the Apex One website as a virtual website.
