To add exceptions, do the steps below:
- Log on to the WFBS-SVC console.
- Go to POLICIES > Global Exception Lists.
- Under the Device Control section, click Allowed USB Device List.
- An exception. Follow the steps below:
- Click Add.
- Specify the vendor name of the device.
Optionally, the device model and serial ID can be specified.
To obtain the device information:
- Download and run the Device List Tool on the Windows endpoint where the external device is connected.
For details on how to use the tool, see Running the Device List Tool. - Check the System Information on the Mac endpoint where the external device is connected.
For details, see Getting Device Information on Mac. - Check the Device Control log details if Device Control violations have occurred.
- Download and run the Device List Tool on the Windows endpoint where the external device is connected.
- (Optional) Provide a note regarding the reason for the exception.
- Click one of the following:
- Add: Adds the exception to the list
- Add Another Device: Adds the exception to the list and lets you add another device information
The wildcard character "*" is also supported for adding USB Device list.
If the exclusion is not working ensure that the policy in device control is set to full permission for the global Allowed USB Device List.
To Specify the permission:
- Log on to the WFBS-SVC console.
- Go to the Configure Policy page and perform one of the following:
- Classic Mode: Go to Security Agents and select a group. Click on the Menu icon (three vertical dots), then click Configure Policy.
- Advanced Mode: Go to Policies > Policy Management. Click Add or click an existing policy.
- In the Configure Policy page, click on the Windows icon.
- Select Device Control > Exceptions.
- Go to USB Devices, then select the permission, If we want to allow USB devices under Global Exception Allowed USB Device list select Full Permission.
