Product Bulletin #1096
Urgent notice for customers upgrading to SMS/TPS TOS version 6.1.0
Date of Announcement: August 11, 2023
Affected Versions: SMS/TPS TOS v6.1.0

Summary: A Security Management System (SMS) v6.1.0 with a 1K Certificate Key will display TPS TX devices (1100TX, 5500TX, 8200TX,  8400TX) as "Rebooting" or "Not Communicating" after upgrading to TPS TOS v6.1.0.12459. To prevent customers from inadvertently hitting this issue, we have removed TPS TOS v6.1.0.12459 from TMC for TX series devices.

Resolution: Upgrade the SMS Certificate Key to a 2K certificate as soon as possible.

Certificate Upgrade Procedure:
  1. Log in to the SMS Client and navigate to the Admin > General tab.
  2. In the SMS Certificate Key section, click Upgrade to open the upgrade wizard, review the list of incompatible devices, and click Next.
  3. Do one of the following:
    •  Download: Automatically download the SMS certificate key from the TMC:

    • Import: Import the SMS certificate key file from storage media or your local drive:
      1. Go to the Threat Management Center (TMC) website, navigate to My Account > FIPS Certification Package, and download the FIPS package. Note: By installing this package, you will not enable FIPS on your SMS, but you will update the certificate key to 2K.

      3. Click Browse, and then select the SMS certificate key package.
