If the DS agent is consuming high CPU usage despite no malware scans being performed other than Real-time-scan, it may be necessary to exclude certain files, paths, and processes from Real-time scanning. To do this, follow these steps:

  1. From the DSM console, go to Computers and double-click the affected computer.
  2. Click Anti-malware, then under Real-time scan, click Edit and go to the Exclusion tab. Click Edit exclusions.
  3. Add the following files, path, and process:
    • File exclusion: C:\ProgramData\WinCollect\Data\PersistenceManager\LocalHost_Security
    • Path exclusion: %USERPROFILE%\AppData\Local\Temp\9\
    • Process exclusion: C:\*\*\java.exe
  4. Once done, save the changes and go to General. Click Actions and select Re-activate to restart the AMSP service.

By following these steps, the DS agent should no longer consume high CPU usage. If the issue persists, please contact Trend Micro support for further assistance.
