Product Bulletin #1097
Urgent notice for TX/TXE customers running TOS v6.1.0
Date of Announcement: February 2, 2024
Affected Versions: TX/TXE devices running TOS v6.1.0
Summary: A software memory leak has been identified in TPS v6.1.0.
  • Once memory is exhausted (approximately 6-8 weeks), then the device will enter L2FB.
  • Once a device is in this failed state, it will require a full reboot to recover (reboot -full from the device CLI).
  • This issue is only present on TOS v6.1.0. Earlier releases, as well as v6.2.0, are not impacted.
Resolution:
  • Upgrade to TPS v6.2.0. (this will require SMS to be running v6.2.0 as well)
  • Upgrade to TPS v6.1.1 (this release is currently undergoing testing and will be released by the end of February once testing is complete).
Mitigation:
  • This issue can be temporarily mitigated by proactively rebooting prior to memory exhaustion.
  • Monitor device memory utilization and reboot when it approaches 90% utilization.
