When changing the server name of a Windows server, the new name may not be automatically reflected in the Deep Security Manager (DSM) console. To update the hostname displayed on the DSM computer page, manual changes are required.

Alternatively, the following steps can be taken:

  1. Delete the computer on DSM by right-clicking on the computer in the computer page of the DSM console and selecting 'Delete...'

    Module state

  2. Reset the Deep Security Agent (DSA) on the server that changed hostname by opening cmd, changing directory to Deep Security Agent, and resetting the DSA by using the command,

    dsa_control -r

    Module state

  3. Perform agent-initiated activation by using the command,

    dsa_control -a dsm://<dsm_host_or_IP>:<port>/

    Module state

  4. The new hostname will now be displayed in the DSM console.

The setting 'Update the "Hostname" entry if an IP is used as a hostname and a change in IP is detected on the computer after Agent/Appliance-initiated communication or discovery" is only applicable to the hostname in DSM that set to IP. If the agent is changed IP and then perform agent-initiated communication, the hostname (IP) in computer page will be renewed to new IP. If the hostname in DSM that set to server name, the setting will not effect to this condition.
