How To: Common Task
- Log in to the SMS from a client.
- On the Events screen, click Inspection Events in the Navigation pane. The Events -Inspection Events screen displays.
How To: View the Packet Trace
- On the Attack Events screen, locate an entry.
- Right-click the entry that is associated with a filter that has packet trace enabled. Those events have a check mark in the Trace column.
- Select Packet Trace and then the View option.
How To: Save Packet Trace files
This option opens a file chooser dialog where you can provide a location on the client system for saving the packet trace information.
- On the Attack Events screen, select one or more packet trace entries you want to save.
- Right-click the entry or entries.
- Select Packet Trace and then the Save option.
- Browse to the area where you want to save the packet trace information and click Save.
How To: Download Packet Trace files to the SMS Website
This option downloads the packet trace files (pcaps) into the Exports and Archives section of the SMS Client.
- On the Attack Events screen, select one or more packet trace entries you want to download.
- Right-click the entry or entries.
- Select Packet Trace and then the Download to the SMS option.
How To: Configure Packet Trace View Settings
- On the Attack Events screen, right-click an entry.
- Select Packet Trace and then the Configure View Settings option.
- In the Packet Trace Viewer Settings dialog select one of the following options:
- Internal Packet Capture Viewer
- An application registered with pcap file association
- External Packet Capture Viewer
- To use an external viewer, browse to the location of the viewer application.
- Click OK.
