Scheduled Distributions

When you schedule a distribution, you have the following options:

  • One-time distribution: runs once at the scheduled time using the DV package selected.
  • Recurring distribution: runs at the times and days specified and distributes the latest DV package available on the SMS to the selected devices if you have an older version of the DV

The following table outlines permissions for scheduled distributions:

How To: Common Task

  1. Log in to the SMS from a client.
  2. From the top navigation pane, click Profiles. The Profiles screen displays.
  3. Select the Digital Vaccines tab. The Digital Vaccines screen displays.

 

How To: Distribute a Digital Vaccine Package

  1. In the DV Inventory, select a package.
  2. Do one of the following:
    • In the DV Inventory section, click Distribute.
    • In the DV Inventory section, click Details. On the displayed screen, click Distribute.
    • On the Menu Bar, select the File -> Distribute to Device -> Digital Vaccine.
    • Right-click on the entry and click Distribute.
  3. In the distribution dialog, select the device or devices you want to receive the distribution.
  4. Click OK.
  5. The package is distributed. An entry displays an updating status in the Distribution Progress section as it runs.

 

How To: Stop Distribution of a Digital Vaccine

  1. In the Distribution Progress section, select a distribution in progress.
  2. In the Distribution Progress section, click Stop Distribution.
 
Note: A DV distribution can only be canceled before it enters the installing state. The distribution cannot be canceled after a device begins installing the package. If the cancel button is grayed out, the distribution cannot be canceled.

 

How To: Create a New Scheduled Distribution

  1. Select the Scheduled Distribution stab.
  2. In the Scheduled Distributions area, click New.
  3. The setup wizard displays. Complete the information for each screen and click Next to continue. To return to a previous screen, click Previous. After entering information on the final screen, click Finish to save your entries.
  4. On the Generals Settings screen, enter the following information:
    • Schedule Name: enter a descriptive name
    • Schedule Type: select a one-time or recurring schedule. If you select recurring schedule, complete the scheduled distribution time.
  5. On the Contents screen, enter the following information:
    • Package: select the package you wish to distribute or leave at default<Latest Available>
  6. On the Device Target screen select the device target:
    • Use All Devices
    • Select Device Groups- select the appropriate group
    • Select Devices- select the appropriate devices
  7. If you want all the devices to receive the package, select the check box next to Use High Priority in the Use All Devices area.

 

How To: Edit a Scheduled Distribution

  1. Select the Scheduled Distribution stab.
  2. Select an existing scheduled distribution from the List pane and click Edit. The setup wizard displays.
  3. Make desired changes and click OK.
