Agents with the Activity Monitoring (xDR) feature enabled will continue to automatically be registered for MQTT communications independent of the connectivity test.

Key Objectives and Enhancements

  • Remove Dependency on Activity Monitoring for IoT Communications

Customers will be able to take advantage of enhanced services without having to enable Activity Monitoring, such as Enhanced Recommendation Scan, events over IoT, and other future service developments.

  • FQDN-Based Connectivity Check

Starting DSA version 20.0.2-4960, agents will perform an FQDN-based connectivity check during activation and required heartbeats as a prerequisite for enabling the IoT communications channel.

  • Controlled Rollout

There is a feature control in place which will be used to schedule and monitor the new behavior rollout to all commercial Workload Security customers in Trend Cloud One™ and Trend Vision One™. The rollout is planned to be fully completed during the month of June 2025

FAQ’s

  • Does this mean there will be an increase in network traffic from hosts with the new DSA IoT channel?

No. Although there will be an increase in network traffic over the IoT channel, there will also be a corresponding decrease in network traffic associated with the traditional communication method of an agent heartbeat to Workload Security.

  • Do I need to do something to enable the enhanced features, like Enhanced Recommendation Scan, that make use of the IoT channel?

No. As an example, if Enhanced Recommendation Scan was already enabled, it will automatically be enabled for more capable agents now that we have removed the dependency on Activity Monitoring.
