Troubleshooting TippingPoint SMS Sync Issue with Vision One

Symptoms

• Security Policy and Inventory sync status states "Out of sync."
  

Root Cause

This issue is caused by a missing or invalid SMS API Key used for Trend Vision One integration in TippingPoint SMS. Without a valid API Key, the SMS cannot properly sync inventory data such as profiles and filters.

Resolution

Follow these steps to regenerate the API Key and restore sync functionality:

Step 1: Log in to TippingPoint SMS

1. Access the SMS management console with an account that has SuperUser privileges.

Step 2: Navigate to the Superuser Settings

1. In the SMS console, go to Admin > Authentication and Authorization > Users > SuperUser > Authentication > API Key

Step 3: Regenerate the API Token

1. Click the option to Regenerate API Key.
2. Confirm the regeneration action if prompted.

Step 4: Verify the New API Token

1. Ensure the new API Key is displayed or saved securely.

Step 5: Restart Sync Process

1. Go to Connect to Trend Vision One connection status screen within SMS web interface.
2. Click Configure and perform a connection test to verify the link.
3. Return to Connect to Trend Vision One page and verify Security Policy and Inventory begin syncing successfully. Allow 10-15 minutes for synchronization to occur.

Step 6: Confirm Resolution

1. Monitor the SMS console to ensure inventory updates occur as expected.
