Summary

Trend Vision One Server & Workload Protection, Cloud One Workload Security, and Deep Security Application Control (hereafter referred to as simply AC) fail to save the AC inventory correctly during a ruleset update. This issue only impacts the 20.0.2-29760 agent version.

There are multiple possible consequences to this issue:

If AC is in allow mode, Unrecognized Software events may appear in the management console for applications that were previously in the AC inventory
If AC is in block/lockdown mode, agent processes and applications that were previously in the AC inventory (which may include important system applications) may be blocked from executing

Recommended Actions

If you have agents running AC that have NOT been upgraded to 20.0.2-29760, do not upgrade these agents.

If you have agents running AC that has been upgraded to 20.0.2-29760, perform the following actions in order:

Disable AC block/lockdown mode for all agents with this agent version that have AC enabled.
Downgrade all agents with AC enabled to a previous agent version.
If the downgraded agents had AC block/lockdown mode enabled, re-enable AC block/lockdown mode if desired.
