Missing TMSMMainService.exe after installing or upgrading to Apex One (Mac)

Summary

After installing or Upgrading to Apex One (Mac), the TMSMMainService.exe cannot be found on Services.msc.

The following can be seen in the TMSM_install.log file:

InstallShield 16:49:18: Invoking script function StartPLSService 

1: Add TMSM main service using InstallUtil  

1: Get InstallUtil path  

1: Get InstallUtil path = C:\Windows\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v2.0.50727\InstallUtil.exe  

1: Net Framework 2.0 is installed  

1: Get InstallUtil path = C:\Windows\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v4.0.30319\InstallUtil.exe  

1: Net Framework 4.0 is installed  

1: Launch cmd: /LogToConsole=false "E:\Program Files (x86)\Trend Micro\OfficeScan\Addon\TMSM\TMSMMainService.exe"  

1: Cannot add services. name = TMSMMainService  

InstallShield 16:49:29: Returning script function result 

InstallShield 16:49:29: CallScriptFunctionFromMsiCA() ends, result 0x0 

MSI (s) (F8:C4) [16:49:29:277]: Doing action: StartAosMgrIfStop2 

Action ended 16:49:29: StartTMSMService. Return value 1. 

MSI (s) (F8:48) [16:49:29:277]: Invoking remote custom action. DLL: C:\Windows\Installer\MSI97EE.tmp, Entrypoint: f40 

Action start 16:49:29: StartAosMgrIfStop2

It is possible that this issue happened because an error was encountered during the installation of TMSMMainService.exe.

To fix the issue, perform the following steps:

  1. Open Command Prompt as administrator.
  2. Type the following command:
    C:\Windows\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v0.30319\InstallUtil.exe /LogToConsole=true "C:\Program Files (x86)\Trend Micro\OfficeScan\Addon\TMSM\TMSMMainService.exe”
     
    Change the location of TMSMMainService.exe depending on the original location.
  3. Verify that the TMSMMainService.exe will be added on the Services.msc.
  4. If the issue still persist, take a screenshot of the result on the Command Prompt, and get additional assistance from Trend Micro Technical Support.
