There are a lot of detected "Malware.XXXXXXXX" (XXXXXXXX for 8 random characters) on normal files in a short time.
The issue is caused by memory corruption, which may be due to:
- Third-party applications that load VSAPI unintentionally
- Trend Micro products' threading issue i.e. products still scan the file during the pattern update or update multiple patterns at the same time
Memory corruption caused by third-party applications cannot be prevented, but Virus Scan Engine (VSAPI) has some mitigation measures to prevent the second condition. It was included in VSAPI hotfix 11.200 and VSAPI official 12.000.
