Safe Lock's focus is more on protection using whitelisting solution instead of traditional virus scan. However, there are some scenarios where Safe Lock can perform a scan:

  • For Safe Lock Agent, during its installation, you can choose to run a scan by configuring setup.ini with value PRESCAN=1. This ensures the target machine is free from malware threats before you enable lockdown.
  • For Safe Lock Agents managed by Safe Lock Intelligent Manager. IM provides malware scans of files blocked by application protection and sets actions for the affected files, such as delete, quarantine, or add to Approved List.

No, installing Safe Lock Agent along with other Competitor Security Software is not recommended and there are possible installation and performance issues that might be experienced if this is attempted.

No, as stated in Administrator Guide, Safe Lock cannot be installed on a system already running the following Trend Micro softwares:

  • Trend Micro OfficeScan
  • Trend Micro Titanium
  • Any other Trend Micro endpoint solution

This is because there may be similar components used by any of these products that would conflict withe Safe Lock Agent's components. As of this writing, the only Trend Micro product that would be compatible with Safe Lock is Trend Micro Portable Security.

Yes, both Safe Lock Agent and Safe Lock Intelligent Manager can be upgraded. Please contact Trend Micro for further assistance.
