macOS 11.0 Big Sur will be the seventeenth and next major release of Apple macOS. This would be the successor to macOS Catalina (version 10.15).
WFBS-SVC Mac agent version 3.5 will not be compatible with this new macOS. Customers who will upgrade their machines to macOS 11 Big Sur will encounter compatibility issues including the error “Unable to Start Protection” after the upgrade.
Trend Micro will be releasing Mac agent version 3.7 on October 24, 2020 as part of the regular hot fix release to support this new macOS version.
Trend Micro highly recommends customers not to upgrade their machines until we release the new Mac agent version.
Even after the release of the new Mac agent version 3.7, the end user's browser on macOS Big Sur will not display a Trend Micro blocking page when a Web Reputation or URL Filtering detection occurs. But, the website that the user attempts to visit would still be blocked and detection log would still be recorded. The reason for this is because browser extension will not be integrated with this release.
- Currently, there is no available workaround for web browsers until we integrate browser extension with the Mac Security Agent.
- The Operating system column from the console will incorrectly show as 10.16.0 instead of 11.0 which is a known issue with this release.
