Installing the Trend Micro Remote Manager agent for OLR-based or LMP-based Account

This article shows how to install Remote Manager agent for accounts based on Trend Micro Online Registration (OLR) or License Management Platform (LMP).

  1. Run the RMAgent installer from %program file%\Trend Micro\Security Server\PCCSRV\Admin\Utility
  2. Do one of the following:
    • Select "I already have a Trend Micro Remote Manager account and I want to install the agent" to continue with the agent installation
    • Choose "I do NOT use Trend Micro Remote Manager but I want to sign up" to create a new TMRM account
    • Mark "I do NOT want to install Trend Micro Remote Manager Agent at this time" to exit the installer

  3. OLR RMAgent need to bind by GUID. This can be inputted from the RM setup window on the second radio button.

    You may need to create a new customer first, then add a WFBS product from product tree of target customer then get the GUID.

  4. Select your region, and then Fill in the proxy settings if needed.
     
    From 3.5.1205 build, the protocol will only allow HTTPS with TLS 1.2

  5. Select the installation path.

  1. Add a WFBS Standard/Advanced service plan to target customer, it will provide an activation key for WFBS. Copy the key, and input to the WFBS security server web console.

  2. On the WFBS management console, go to Administration > Product License, click Enter a new code to input the AC code from TMRM console.

  3. Launch the TMRMagent installer from %program file%\Trend Micro\Security Server\PCCSRV\Admin\Utility\.
  4. Select "I already have a Trend Micro Remote Manager account and I want to install the agent", if you already have a TMRM account.

  5. Choose Associate with existing License management platforms. This will allow the installation of the RM Agent without needing to provide the account and password.

  6. Select the installation path.

Autobind function can deploy the RM Agent automatically. Once the LMP activation code from TMRM is provided, WFBS server will trigger a task every midnight (00:00 local time), and follows the conditions below:

  • If RMAgent exists, but the TMICAgent.exe service is NOT ready, it will start the service.
  • If RMagent does not exist, it will launch RM Agent installation automatically.

Autobind function should meet the following criteria:

  • In ofcserver.ini, the value of "PostPaidAC" is 1.

  • RMAgent does not exist from the registry (Computer\HKLM\SOFTWARE\WOW6432Node\TrendMicro\TMIC4CSM\Agent)

  • TMRMAgentForWFBS folder does not exist (C:\Program Files (x86)\Trend Micro\TMRMAgentForWFBS\)

This is the main program (also referred to as the agent main body) with a corresponding Windows service called “Trend Micro Remote Manager Agent”. It is responsible for communicating with the TMRM server, receiving and sending requests to the server and managing the over-all operation of the agent.{TMRM Agent installed folder}\Log\TMICAgent.log
csmPlugin.dllLoaded by TMICAgent.exe, this library is responsible for collecting logs and executing commands that are related to WFBS Server.{TMRM Agent installed folder}\Log\csmPlugin.log

Process
This component is responsible for periodically monitoring the status of tmicAgent.exe. In the event that the said process hangs or terminates abnormally tmicAgentMonitor.exe will automatically trigger the process to restart{TMRM Agent installed folder}\Log\ tmicAgentMonitor.log

Tray Icon and UI
This component (also referred to as the Agent Configuration Tool) is the agent’s task tray process. It allows the user to view and modify the agent settings.{TMRM Agent installed folder}\Log\TMICAgentSetting.log

From 1205 build, the port and protocol are fixed on HTTPS port 443.

    The current RMAgent will identify the server site URL. It is not recommended to change this setting as the connection cannot be established if the URL does not match.
     

Configuration needs to be setup from firewall settings in order for connection to be successful. You may need to allow the HTTPS port 443 connections to these URLs depending on which DC (data center) RM Agent reports to.

The following steps shows hot to remove the WFBS from TMRM product tree:

  1. Uninstall RM agent from control panel.
  2. From RM console product tree, right-click the server that will be removed, and click Remove Server.
