Summary
Communication between the servers is neccessary in managing Information Servers (IS) and Normal Servers (NS). Some of the issues that may arise from faulty communication among servers are the following:
- Remote install may not work.
- The server may not appear on the SPNT management console.
- Pattern deployments may fail.
- The message "The system is unable to deploy the pattern file." and "Error 1722" may appear.
Details
To verify the connectivity of the IS and the NS, do the following:
- Download and extract the contents of the attached RpcPing.zip file.
- On the Normal Server, run Rpings.exe.
- On the Information Server, run Rpingc.exe.
- Ping the NS using the following protocols:
- Named Pipes
- TCPIP
- Use the following contact information for both the IS and NS:
- IP Address
- NetBIOS Name
If the verification using the NetBIOS name is not successful, check the WINS database or manually add an entry to the Lmhost file. - Repeat the pattern update.
