Manually updating the ScanMail for Exchange (SMEX) pattern files

The administrator is unable to update the SMEX pattern files using the ActiveUpdate process. 
Details
Public
To manually update pattern files:
  1. Download the latest copy of the pattern file from the Trend Micro web site on the ScanMail server.
  2. Stop the following ScanMail services:
    • ScanMail for Microsoft Exchange Master Service
    • ScanMail for Microsoft Exchange Remote Configuration Server
  3. Backup and replace lpt$vpn.xxx with the latest pattern file that was downloaded to the following directories:
    • ..\engine\vsapi\pattern\latest
    • ..\engine\vsapi\pattern\primary
    • ..\engine\vsapi\pattern\secondary
  4. Restart the following services:
    • SMEX Master Service
    • ScanMail for Microsoft Exchange Remote Configuration Server
  5. Open the SMEX management console and verify that is using the latest pattern file.
