When the SMD database is corrupted, it can either be recovered or recreated.
However, recreating the database does not restore the original contents of the database, which requires the administrator to define the policies, rules, and filters or replicate the configuration database of another ScanMail server.
- On the Domino server, open a command prompt.
- Run the load fixup <database_name_to_recover>.nsf command for a database consistency check.
For example, load fixup smd\smconf.nsf.
- Go to the $<Domino_Data_Path>\smd folder.
- Copy the required database template to the ..\Lotus\Domino\Data folder:
- smconf.ntf (Configuration Database)
- smency.ntf (Update Database)
- smquar.ntf (Quarantine Database)
- smvlog.ntf (Log Database)
- smhelp.ntf (Help Database)
- smtime.ntf (Scheduled Message Database)
- SMDapproved.ntf (Approved Database)
- smftypes.ntf (File Types Database)
- Open Domino > Notes Administrator > Client and then click the Databases icon.
- Click Workspace and then select the database to recover.
- On the main menu, click File > Database > Replace Design.
- On the Replace Database Design window, click Template Server and then select Server from the option list.
- Select the Show advanced templates check box and then click the database that will replace the corrupted database.
- Click Replace and then sign the new database with the server.id if currently unsigned.
